Lusitania from the bow, demonstrating cut-away view. The Lusitania came before the Titanic, in fact, the Titanic was built in response to the Lusitania and her sister ship the Mauretania. Those two ships held the award for fastest Atlantic crossing, so the White Star Line, builders of the Titanic, decided to compete with comfort, hence the Olympic, Titanic and Britannic.
